Welcome to the page where I talk about games I've played!
Death Stranding
Death stranding is an incredible game.
I have no clue what it's about, and I have no idea why I sunk so much time into what is effectivly a walking simulator, but I would absolutley recomend this game to everyone!
the soundtrack, stunning visuals, almost nonsensical story the game keeps you interested and it makes sure your interest isn't broken!
Death Stranding is available on all current and last gen consoles and frequently goes on sale, if you have some time to kill and want to explore the inner workings of Hideo Kojima's mind I would highly recomend this game to you!
Portal
Portal!
who doesn't love portal? it's an absolute masterclass in what puzzle games can and should be!
between the clinical aesthetic and the eerie ambience portal really knows how to get your mind racing without having to do anything! hell, half of the assets are stolen straight from Half Life 2!
This is another game that I would absolutley recomend you play at some point if you haven't played it before, and if you have played it before? why not play it again!
Burnout 3
Burnout 3 is a whole lot of fun
I've got a modded PS2 which means I can simply just load games onto a hard drive and play them like I had the disc, Burnout 3 is one such game
If you're unware the Burnout games centre around 2 main gameplay concepts: driving, and crashing!
I really like how Burnout 3 has dedicated modes depending on whether you want to race or cause some destruction
I think older consoles like the PS2 or orignal XBOX excel when it comes to driving games due to their fast paced nature meaning that most things in the game world, exlcuding the cars, are only visible for a short time so the games can easily hide the technical limits of the hardware they're running on, which is why I would ABSOLUTLEY recomend people try these older racing games if they ever get the chance.
Half Life
the first Half life game may well go down in history as one of the most important games ever made
Half life is still one of the best shooters I've ever played, the fast paced and dynamic fights means that when the action starts you'll have to stay on top of it or risk getting overrun.
This is another game where the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense but I'll excuse it because it came out in the 90's
Half Life is another game with a great soundtrack (which I'll leave below), and even to this day you can see how Half Life would've been a visually attractive game when it came out, with an official HD model upgrade coming out later.
Half Life frequently goes on sale, I managed to aquire it as part of a "valve pack" -or something similar- which contained every valve game and I bought that on sale for a very low price so keep an eye out for that!
Half Life: Opposing Force
Half life had a number of expansions, the first of which being Opposing Force
Opposing Force sees you playing through the events of the Black Mesa incident through the eyes of a military soldier (the same soldiers you fight in the base game)
Opposing Force keeps everything that made the first game great like the face paced gun fights, puzzle solving, and world building and then expands on them by introducing new enemies, new guns, and new areas to explore
Opposing Force wasn't developed by Valve, instead being developed by Gearbox Software under the supervision of Valve which explains some of the design choices in the game.
If you enjoyed Half Life this game is 100% worth trying out!
Half Life: Blue Shift
The second expansion for Half Life, Blue shift sees you experince the Black Mesa incident through the eyes of Security gaurd Barney Calhoon
This expansion is shorter than Opposing Force but still provides a fun expreience whilst showing you new areas of the Black Mesa facility
This was the expansion that contained the offical HD remodel of almost all assets in the game. This remodel is a source of much debate in the Half Life community, some like it, some hate it, personally I quite like it but it is, of course, a matter of personal tastes.
